Before the NFL Draft in Detroit on April 25, Michigan nickelback Mike Sainristil had an outstanding college season that propelled him into first-round contention. At the 2024 NFL Combine, Sainristil displayed the straight-line speed that made him one of the top defensive playmakers in the country the previous season, clocking in at 4.47 for the 40-yard dash.

Sainristil was beaming on Friday when he answered to a post on X from a sports media network based in Detroit, tagging edge-rusher Aidan Hutchinson, a current member of the Detroit Lions and former Michigan teammate.

The former Michigan wide receiver Sainristil was mentioned as the Lions’ 2024 secondary’s possible weak point, and he appeared enthusiastic about the idea of joining the Great Lakes State NFL team.

Hutchinson was a 2021 Wolverines Consensus All-American. At the end of that season, he was a finalist for the Maxwell Award and finished second in the Heisman Trophy behind Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
Hutchinson was selected by the Lions with the second overall pick in the draft. He won the Pepsi Rookie of the Year award in 2022 and was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2023, when he helped the team win its first division title since 1993.

Hutchinson was an All-American in the Wolverines Consensus for 2021. He was a finalist for the Maxwell Award at the end of that season, and he came in second to Alabama quarterback Bryce Young for the Heisman Trophy.
The Lions chose Hutchinson with their second-round pick in the draft. In 2023, he was chosen for his first Pro Bowl after helping the team win its first division championship since 1993. He was named the Pepsi Rookie of the Year in 2022.
